Guest Speaker - Chelsea Mack

Chelea Mack, fellow Rotarian and Public Affairs Officer for the Hawaii Branch of the Veterans of Foreign Wars presented on the Wall that Heals project - a 3/4 sized replica of the Vietnam War Memorial along with a mobile education center, backed by Hawaii County.  She spoke of the impact this commemorative exhibit has on the veteran community and importance of the project as a whole in the education of the youth regarding this moment in history, and touching on the disdain and hatred that greeted veterans of the Vietnam War compared to the homecoming of veterans today.

The Wall That Heals will be displayed at Bayfront in Hilo through Sunday, January 28, 2024.  Educational tours will be hosted during business hours while the wall will be on display 24-hours a day for all to view it.  For information on volunteering, donating, and signing up for the educational tours, click here to go to the official website for The Wall That Heals - Hawaii County.
