Aloha and welcome to the Rotary Club of South Hilo!

By joining our club, you become part of a proud legacy that began on November 2, 1956, when a group of community-minded leaders came together with a vision of service, fellowship, and positive change. For nearly seven decades, South Hilo Rotarians have worked to strengthen our community, support our youth, and embody Rotary's motto: Service Above Self.

Today, you are joining more than a service organization—you are becoming part of an ohana.

The Rotary Club of South Hilo is built on the belief that our community is strongest when people from different backgrounds, professions, experiences, and generations work together toward a common purpose.  Within our membership, you will find business owners, educators, healthcare professionals, nonprofit leaders, public servants, entrepreneurs, retirees, and community volunteers.  The diversity of our club is one of our greatest strengths, creating opportunities to learn from one another while building lasting friendships rooted in service.

As a member, you will have opportunities to participate in projects that make a real difference throughout East Hawaiʻi.  You may find yourself helping with our signature Hilo Huli fundraiser, supporting literacy initiatives that place dictionaries in the hands of local third-grade students, mentoring young leaders through Interact, Rotaract, and RYLA programs, assisting at community events, or partnering with fellow Rotarians to support local nonprofits and organizations that serve our island home.

But Rotary is about more than the projects we accomplish.  It is about the relationships we build along the way.  Some of our members have been Rotarians for decades, while others are just beginning their Rotary journey. Together, we share ideas, experiences, and talents, creating a welcoming environment where every member has something valuable to contribute and something new to learn.

As you become involved, we encourage you to bring your own passions, skills, and ideas to the table. Rotary thrives because members see needs, imagine solutions, and work side by side to make those solutions a reality.  Whether your interests are in youth development, community service, environmental stewardship, international service, or simply lending a helping hand where needed, there is a place for you here.
