Kaukau 4 Keiki: A Community Effort
Partnership for a Cause
The Rotary Club of South Hilo has joined forces with Vibrant Hawaii to support the Kaukau 4 Keiki project, a heartfelt initiative aimed at providing food to underprivileged children within the community. This partnership embodies a shared commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of young individuals who face food insecurity.
Project Overview
Kaukau 4 Keiki serves as a beacon of hope for many families, ensuring that children receive nutritious meals they might otherwise miss. The service project is scheduled to operate every Thursday over a span of four weeks, marking a dedicated period of community service and involvement.

How It Works
Weekly Distribution: Every Thursday from 9:30 AM-3:30 PM at Nani Mau Gardens, volunteers gather to prepare and distribute food packages to families in need. Each package is carefully curated to include nourishing meals that cater to the dietary needs of children. Preparation begins with setup, organization, and preparation of bags from 9:30AM-12:00PM, and distribution from 12:00PM-3:30PM.
Community Involvement: The project not only provides sustenance but also fosters a sense of community solidarity. Local businesses and volunteers play a vital role in supporting the initiative, demonstrating the power of collective action.
Impact on the Community
The project holds significant importance in addressing the issue of child hunger, particularly during challenging times. By ensuring that children have access to healthy meals, Kaukau 4 Keiki contributes to improved well-being and academic performance, laying the foundation for a brighter future.
